Find Hidden Information in Excel

Inspect Excel Spreadsheets for hidden information

excel find invisible content find hidden data in excel find hidden data in excel document inspector excel In most cases when you start to work at a new company you take over the existing Excel workbooks of your predecessor and continue to update and expand on the workbook.

Normally these Excel files are quite large and contain many tabs and it’s not always clear if there is hidden information such as comments, personal information, hidden rows etc in the file.

Some hidden information can be deliberate whereas some might be unintentional.

To find all this out manually can be time consuming.

That’s where you can use the Inspect document feature.

I find it a great tool to use before distributing workbooks.

Nice and useful presentation as ever. I have a question though:

How to make content of a cell to appear in two different colors?
For example, I want to type a formula and add an asterisk using “&” in a cell. But , I want the result of the formula to appear in black fonts whereas the asterisk to appear in red font. How can I do this?

Glad you like it. I can’t think of a way other than VBA that can do that. Conditional formatting would be able to change the font color if “&” is in the cell, but it changes the entire font – not just parts….
