How to SUM Different Columns based on Header?
Excel’sĀ SUMIFS function makes it easy to sum columns based on different criteria. But how can you use the SUMIFS function to not just sum based on criteria, but also sum different columns based on the column header?
This video shows you how you can sum different columns based on user selection. This is great technique when you want to create dashboard / interactive type of reports.

Hi. Congratulations for the excellent video. I would like to have a huge help on this one. I have a spreadsheet with 121 columns. 112 of them are values which can be summed (in my case, those columns are related to employees earnings and discounts). In order to make final user analysis more simple, user grouped some of earnings in categories. For example, a category EXTRA HOURS refers to a total of 4 different types of extra hours (i.e. 4 columns in the base spreadsheet). This means that I need to sum columns G, H, J and M to present extra hours total. However, I have 16 months in spreadsheets. Columns positions varies from month to month. In a certain month I need to sum G,H,J,M; in another month columns that I need to find based on headers name which are the items which belongs to a Category. I was able to address the right spreadsheet based on user selection. I have difficulties in to sum the columns which varies depending on the spreadsheet.
